Online Safety
At Rosehill Methodist Primary Academy, we are committed to ensuring that all our pupils, staff, and families understand how to stay safe online. In an increasingly digital world, it is vital that children learn how to navigate the internet responsibly, respectfully, and securely.
🏫 Our School’s Responsibilities
We take online safety seriously and embed it across our curriculum and school culture. We:
- Teach age-appropriate e-safety lessons through our computing and PSHE curriculum.
- Use filtering and monitoring systems to protect pupils from harmful content on school devices.
- Provide staff with regular training on safeguarding and online risks.
- Promote responsible use of technology through our Acceptable Use Policies (AUPs).
- Respond swiftly and appropriately to any online safety concerns or incidents.
👨👩👧👦 Parents’ and Carers’ Responsibilities
We believe that online safety is a shared responsibility. Parents and carers play a crucial role in helping children stay safe online at home. We encourage you to:
- Talk regularly with your child about their online activity and digital friendships.
- Set clear rules and boundaries for internet use at home.
- Use parental controls and privacy settings on devices and apps.
- Monitor screen time and encourage a healthy balance of online and offline activities.
- Stay informed about the latest apps, games, and online trends.
We also provide regular workshops, newsletters, and resources to support families in navigating the digital world confidently.
👧 Students’ Responsibilities
We empower our pupils to become respectful and responsible digital citizens. We expect all students to:
- Follow the school’s Acceptable Use Policy when using technology.
- Keep personal information private and never share passwords.
- Be kind and respectful to others online.
- Tell a trusted adult if they see or experience anything upsetting or inappropriate.
- Use the internet for positive learning and creativity.
